The Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie (VRT) is the national public-service broadcaster for the Flemish Community of Belgium. With a mission to inform, inspire, and entertain, VRT is at the heart of Belgian media, producing diverse content across multiple platforms, including television, radio, and digital channels.
VRT faced challenges around ensuring continuous, transparent, and structured performance management across the organization. Although a process for setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and evaluating performance was in place, it was limited to a small group of employees. Scaling this process to the wider organization and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives was a key concern. VRT needed a performance management solution that would encourage ongoing dialogue, support real-time feedback, and allow for personalized development across all levels.
To address these challenges, VRT partnered with huapii, an advanced HR platform designed to support performance and talent management.

One of the standout features Huapii offers is the Temporary Manager (Tijdelijke Manager) function. This feature enables VRT to address situations where an employee’s direct manager is temporarily unavailable or changes during a project or assignment. By assigning a temporary manager, employees can still receive guidance, feedback, and performance evaluations without disruption. This feature has proven essential for VRT in periods of change or when project-based teams form, ensuring that no gaps in leadership or performance oversight occur.
The Temporary Manager function also supports VRT’s agile way of working, allowing flexibility in leadership roles while maintaining the continuity of performance management. It ensures that team members always have a designated manager to provide mentorship and accountability, regardless of structural or temporary changes within the organization.
The onboarding process began with an in-depth analysis of VRT’s existing processes, followed by the customization of the huapii platform to fit their specific needs. During the implementation phase, huapii ensured close collaboration with VRT’s HR and IT departments, facilitating a smooth transition towards the launch. Since the tool is so intuitive, there wasn’t any need for extra training or documentation.
Since the implementation of huapii, VRT has completed a full performance cycle. Employees now have a clear understanding of their expectations and feel more empowered to take control of their career development. Managers and team members engage in meaningful conversations about growth and performance on a regular basis.

After studying general management and HR in Lyon, I joined Solvay where I had several rich & diverse HR experiences. I worked in Lyon, Brussels and Paris, to finally come back to Brussels and accept the challenge of creating and managing Solvay’s Digital Studio flagship.
Being an intrapreneur leading an innovation incubator, taking part of creating a new ways of working platform that transformed the company culture and HR woke up my inner intrapreneur and made me jump into co-founding huapii!
